Once Gendrome is about... say... 10% of his max health or so, he'll start limping away to his rest area. There's no audio cue or such, unfortunately. So it's somewhat a matter of estimating when to stop attacking the monster. Gendrome doesn't have a lot of health, so you might want to go easy on him a bit. And of course, make sure the smoke from the tranq bombs actually connects.
