Personally, I think Hunting Horn should be unsheathed as much as possible, so I don't think item support befits the weapon very much at all. Hunting Horn should be actively fighting, mixed with playing songs, to provide a combination of melody buffs and constant exhaust and KO support. That's pretty much a full-time job for the weapon. I think SnS just does item support much better.
