Actually, I tested that out as well. They only do it if you're a close enough distance, and if you are looking toward them with your camera angle. I stood sideways with my camera pointed so that I could barely see them, and then they didn't wave. So no, it's not looped. Only if you continuely look at them at certain angles, then it loops as long as you do that.
