Well, on Kid Icarus Uprising (a game made by Sakurai might I add) you can only play as Dark Pit if you play Light vs Dark matches online, get lucky enough to be on the dark side AND be KO'ed last to be revived as a angel. Long story short, making Dark Pit a character was more for the fans of the game who wanted to play as him. ~Whew thats a mouthful
