3. Break things down into shapes - they look much simpler when you break them down into circles and squares. When I draw a character, I sketch them using shapes. Then I go over that with more detail, then draw the final picture on top. On paper you sketch lightly with a pencil, then draw darker lines on top of the sketch. On Miiverse, I use a thinner pen and slowly erase the sketch as I draw.
