Honing for life works exactly like this: Occasionally, when you land a hit on a monster, this effect will trigger and recover a portion of health proportionate to the motion value of the attack. By motion value, I mean the strength of the attack. The specific weapon's attack stat is irrelevant, though. After triggering the effect, the effect cannot active again within the next 5 seconds.
