There are 8 Worlds in the game, with 4 levels in each. The fourth level in each World is a Castle-themed level, where you beat a fake Bowser in the end(except in World 8, where you fight the real Bowser). The game gets noticeably harder as you progress, seen with the inclusion of enemies like the dreaded Bloopers and Hammer Bros. in later levels.
