It's the difference between the Canadian dollar and American dollar that caused the price increase probably. The value of the Canadian dollar to the American dollar fluctuates. Sometimes for the better, sometimes not. The value must have decreased causing the price increase if I had to guess. It may come down in price later as the ratio changes, but it's a gamble.
