the owner puzzles give bonus stats to their horses when they level up, by a lot. Definitely get them. I keep about 20,000+ for each owner myself. Anything above that I spend on the puzzle. FYI, you can quit the game if the puzzle piece you got was a dup. When you try the puzzle piece a second time, touch another item first (no need to buy them). That will change the RNG... sometimes.
