You can get one of the endings starting in chapter 5 or 6 by destroying a crystal, but that's just one ending. Also, you probably should have found some more summons by now. Look for those owl-people in certain spots. They'll challenge you, and all you've got to do is survive the hit to win. The journal has clues to their locations.
