@PaPierre this actually goes a bit beyond Nintendo. COD was pretty much the killer app that managed to unseat Medal of Honor among other games around the same time. Their first 3 games were stellar and what broke it open (for me) was the use of the Wii motes). World at War hit on a trippy realism that was just impressive. Modern Warfare obviously gave us a modern version of the series.
