The reason why they raised the price is because Nintendo was sued by this company called "Philips" for thinking the camera for Wii U Chat was a motion controller, "supposedly" stealing their idea. So they went into court and Nintendo lost. Their penalty was to raise the price. Which is kind of stupid if you ask me.
