thats because you have to go to the wiiu settings and set your display for 16:9. im guessing the tv you switched to was and old tube crt tv (4:3), then you switched back to a newer flatscreen. the wiiu will work when hooked up to a 4:3 tv, but while it is the dual display/off tv will not.
