So I've heard. My brother did that apparently. Lost on Mephilia so went to fight Artemia, then went to Mephilia again. But I did notice that Mephilia and the Garden was much more difficult, the basic Garden enemies were bosses before Artemia, and the Ranger job is listed before Summoner in D's Journal.
