Nintendo does need more 3rd party support. The biggest titles on the original Nintendo were 3rd party titles. Megaman, Castlevania, Contra, Ninja Gaiden, Double Dragon, Metal Gear, etc. Then there's Mario, Zelda, and Metroid for 1st party. Some of the best games on Super Nintendo were 3rd party titles. N64 too with Golden Eye and Perfect Dark. Gamecube had Resident Evil, Ikaruga, Chaos Field etc.
