1. considering this is a JAPANESE game (and LOADED with historical / cultural references) I'm pretty sure that it's a kitsune ( a fox yôkai[beast/animal spirit{not necessarily the dead kind}] that gets basically an extra tail AND a massive “power up” every 50 or 100 years until they get 9 tails not to mention they are also shapeshifters and can speak human laguages.) ; D 2.MAGIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
