As you have noticed, this game takes most of Wario abilities away, and makes them unlockable, which is really bad game design for a game like this IMO, since it makes getting most treasures impossible until later. Out of all treasures, the Gray ones should be accessible the moment you enter the stage, with Blue chests requiring late-game abilities and mostly not being worth it
