Once you get on the pipe, your character will now be stuck. Don't turn any wrong direction, because your character can easily fall. Hold X or Y, and shift yourself in the middle of the pipe. But make sure you get it in the excact middle, or else you will fall. Now turn to your left, and start walking towards the edge of the pipe.
