I think people are just put off by her personality. Her name in Japanese, shortened from a type of squid, also can mean "princess" and she has a snooty personality to match. She also is a bit dominant over Marina, as she's either older or has been in the music business for longer (indicated by Marina addressing her as "Senpai" in the Japanese text).
