Welp, both the gold bokoblins are gone now along with one of the silver bokoblins. It was thanks to a tip in Mathew's thread about the effectiveness of frost weapons (it's in the discussion section). I happened to have a Great Frostblade with an [Attack Up +18] perk. A few hits was all it took to drop both of them - /after/ separating them.
