I drew this hand with the 3d effect, and it makes it a lot easier to envision were you would place the fingers. For me, draw a hand from the side is the easiest. If the hand is a straight side view, I just draw the palm a a rectangle. With this, the biggest focus should be the thumb and index finger. The other fingers can be tucked or relaxed behind the index finger.
