I draw the palm in the shape of a trapezoid/squarish shape. Drawing it like it's 3d helps to see were your starting. For fingers, I start with simple lines coming off the palm. For anatomy in general, I like to draw small circles were the joints are, so I can see were joints would bend/ move. If it helps to draw the fingers as cylinders first, then go for it!
