Link requires 13 hearts or more to successfully pull out the Master Sword. (Like Guy says, temporary hearts don't count) Best to use spirit orbs to gain more hearts, or if you want to get hearts quickly...you can talk to the horned statue in Hateno Village and strike a deal with him to receive hearts.
