When you play through Twilight Princess HD, you can save progress to the wolf amiibo. I would wait until you have all 20 hearts and then enter Cave of Sorrows. After you get through the first round (4 or 5 floors) you'll have the chance to save. Make sure you have full health then save/exit. Scan him into BOTW and presto!
