I don't know what blue thing you mean? The only thing I can think of is maybe trying to line up the camera with it by locking on then tilting it all over until it blinks red at the top like a fatal frame. It shouldn't matter if you're using the gamepad or the TV. Quite honestly fighting is much easier if you just do it all on the gamepad, I only use the TV to explore.
