Getting these things to happen should help your horse speed up in the homestretch despite the incompetent Speed stats. For mature mode, don't pay too much attention to level 3 Comfort Zones unless you're in serious need of faraway Charge/Boost Cards. Bad horse moods can be enough to make G1 races heck.
