There's rubber gear to help prevent that. Also, after you beat the desert divine beast if you decide to help every Gerudo member, you can get the helmet that makes you completely lightning proof. Once you get that you can use the lightning on yourself to damage enemies. it's so funny and EXTREMELY useful..
