There's a Pet Ability called Herding / Recovery that will automatically get your animals outside at 7:00, the pet will herd as many animals as affection hearts it has. Also keep an eye on the animals' "Stress" meter, if there's any blue on it, should take it outside for at least two hours. You take a hit in everyone's affection/friendship level for each animal that dies by sickness.
