Its necessary for the most part imo, don't be too open but don't close yourself from absolutely everybody either. Its hard though, especially if you feel lonely, low self-esteem etc. I used to try to befriend and trust everybody, what a huge mistake that was! I was so naive, more so than the average bear er I mean person!
