wasnt there another where mewtwo returned? tbh I really wish they had a rep for every region not just ash ketchum. I think they tried to bring the old aspects of the show with gary showing up in sinnoh. ash's drive for a rival just seems random now. You see prof. oak but never any mention of gary, lol
