I know this post is ancient, but I've wondered the same thing. Think about this, too - the Octolings seem to be at peace among themselves, but the Inklings fight other Inklings. What is Nintendo doing to us? DJ Octavio was a thief, but the rest of the Octarian army was just hangin' out in Octo Valley until we squids came along and blew 'em all away. What if Octolings ARE the good guys?
