Often i'll make sure i always have a special bar up. Then i'll do moves/combos even risky ones that leave you vulnerable. When it doesn't go well and you can tell you're about to get hit use the special. I abuse this technique alot to try to never take damage. Sorry i'm not able to really offer any meaningful help -.-
