The creator of Mario (Shigeru Miyamoto) has stated in the past that all of the characters in the Mario universe are essentially in a stage show, which is why they can come together in a game like Mario Kart and all be friends. If this is true, Bowser is no worse of a "person" than Mario or Peach. With that said, Bowser has always been a favorite character of mine xD
