Nintendo will claim 'sales didn't meet our expectations, so we're shelving the franchise' or some other corporate bull, but they themselves are why people didn't buy Fatal Frame, or Federation Farce. Maiden of Black Water was great, and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Unfortunately, NoA is run by a bunch of half wits, and decided to release it digitally, which you already know.
