The key here is to have quick enough reacton to dodge at the right moment to enable fury swipes and just wail it on him and run when he has his shield up for bashing you. This boss is the hardest of the bunch when it comes to the divine beast questline. strangely enough this was also my second major boss fight right after waterblight ganon.
