@[N.A]: It can, but it's just as likely to strike flat, or open terrain. The game warns you when you're in danger of being struck. If you see sparks begin to form around Link's body, open the equipment menu and unequip all metallic weapons and armor to save yourself. That's why it's good to always have a few non-metallics, just in case.
