There are no g/l characters but you can dress up as the opposite if you want to marry another character in the "same gender", none of the characters judge you for it or anything like that. You can also 'pick' the gender of your child. The child's gender is randomly picked on the day of it's birth, so you can save the night before and just save reset till you get what you want.
