I'd suggest getting Pokémon Yellow & Pokémon Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire since they're easily available on 3DS & would cover Generations 1 & 3. Unfortunately, I don't know what to tell you for Generations 2 & 4 since those games have gotten rare &/or expensive to purchase.
