To friend somebody, you have to go to their profile. There would be a button near the top saying 'Add friend'. You click it, and you will have a screen for an optional message to add. After you have finished this step, click send request and wait for the person to either accept or decline your request. If they accept, you will be friends. If not, you get the point.
